It is not hard. It is just long.
A Constructionline Gold submission runs to forty or more separate requirements. Each one wants a document, a date, a signature and a policy that says the right thing. Miss one and the whole application sits in Action Required while the job you needed it for goes to someone else.
The evenings disappear

Constructionline Gold, steel fixing contractor
A 24 man reinforcement contractor working on HS2. Twenty documents written from scratch, the portal completed, the evidence uploaded and the application submitted twelve days after their first email. Work categories, insurance gates and assessor feedback handled by us, inside the portal, on their account.
Failed supply chain audit, closed out
The same contractor was referred by a main contractor’s auditor. Twenty one documents and eighty six pages, written against the auditor’s exact wording and delivered the day after the quote was accepted, with a closeout matrix mapping every finding to the document that answers it.

Carbon Reduction Plan
PPN 006 compliant, with your scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions calculated, a baseline year and a net zero commitment. Required for most public sector work over £5m and increasingly asked for below it.
Prices exclude the scheme's own registration or membership fee, which you pay directly to CHAS, Constructionline or the relevant body. We will tell you what that is before you commit.

We review every document you hold with us once a year, update it for changes in law and re-issue it signed and dated, so nothing is ever out of review date when an auditor arrives.
PSQs, selection questionnaires and PQQs
The stage before the tender. Public buyers now call it the Procurement Specific Questionnaire, or PSQ, since the Procurement Act replaced the old selection questionnaire in February 2025. Main contractors still call theirs a PQQ. Whatever the name, it comes first and you have to clear it. Get it wrong and the bid you were going to write never gets scored. It asks for almost exactly the documents we already produce, so we complete it for you.
Single PSQ, SQ or PQQ response
One questionnaire completed and submitted on your behalf, including the Central Digital Platform details a public PSQ relies on. Company information, insurances, accounts, health and safety, quality, environmental, equality, modern slavery, data protection and your project references, answered against that buyer's question set.
SQ library and three responses
We build a reusable answer library covering every standard selection question, written for your business, then complete your next three questionnaires from it. After that the fourth onwards costs a fraction, because the answers already exist.
Project reference statements
The three contract examples every questionnaire asks for, written up properly with value, duration, scope, client, your role and the outcome, in a form a buyer can score. Supplied as standalone documents you reuse.
Where we stop
We do not write the tender itself. Method statements, programme, social value, and anything a panel scores out of ten is a different job and a different skill, and plenty of good bid consultancies do it well. We get you through the eligibility gate. If you need someone for the scored submission after that, ask and we will point you at a firm that does it properly.
Failed or referred a client audit?
Main contractors increasingly run their own audits on top of SSIP, and they come back with action plans that have to be closed out before you get back on the approved list. We work through the report line by line, write what is missing and give you a response document that answers every finding with a reference to the evidence.

Questions we get asked most weeks
How long does an application take?
We usually have a full submission ready within five to seven working days of you returning the questionnaire. After that it is down to the scheme. Constructionline typically assesses within five to ten working days, CHAS within a similar window. Renewals are faster because the evidence already exists.
What does Constructionline itself cost?
Constructionline membership is priced by turnover band and by tier, and Gold is quoted rather than listed. The year one figure usually includes a joining fee that does not repeat, so the renewal is lower than the first year. We will get you the current figure for your turnover band before you commit, and it is paid directly to Constructionline, not to us.
Do I have to pay the scheme fee as well as your fee?
Yes. Our fee covers the writing, the evidence and the submission. The scheme's own registration or membership fee is paid by you directly to CHAS, Constructionline, SMAS or whoever the body is. We tell you what it will be in advance so there are no surprises.
What happens if the assessor rejects something?
We fix it and resubmit at no extra cost, as many times as it takes, as long as the information you gave us was accurate. Assessor queries come to us rather than to you. That is the whole point of the Done For You tier.
Do the documents actually get used, or are they just for the portal?
They are written to be used. Every document names your responsible person, references your actual work activities and carries a review date. If an auditor turns up on site and asks how your permit to work system runs, the answer is in the pack rather than in a folder nobody has opened.
We already have policies. Can you just fix the gaps?
Yes, and that is often cheaper. Send us what you have and the list of what the assessor or auditor has asked for. We will tell you what can be kept, what needs rewriting and what is missing, then quote for the gap only.
Do you write tenders as well?
We complete the selection stage questionnaire, whether the buyer calls it a PSQ, an SQ or a PQQ, which is the stage that decides whether you are allowed to bid at all. We do not write the tender itself. Method statements, programme and social value answers are scored by a panel and that is a different job done by bid consultancies. If you need one after we have got you through the gate, ask and we will point you at a firm that does it properly.
Are you affiliated with CHAS or Constructionline?
No. We are an independent business. We are not an assessment body, a certification body or an SSIP member scheme, and we have no arrangement with any of them. We work for you, not for them.
When can I actually get you on the phone?
Weekdays, 8am to 1pm UK time, on 07308 666258. Outside those hours use WhatsApp or email and you will have an answer inside one working day, often sooner. Either way the important parts get confirmed in writing, so nothing is lost between a phone call and a submission.
Who actually writes the documents?
We do, in house. Nothing is outsourced and nothing is a downloaded template with your name dropped into it. Every document is drafted against the scheme's current requirements and your business as it actually operates.
Do you work with accountants, brokers and consultants?
Yes. If you advise contractors and your clients keep getting stuck on prequalification, we run a referral arrangement with a commission on work that completes. Email us and we will send the details.
